Credit Repair Business – If You Need One

There is too much argument regarding the credit repair business to just ignore it. In fact, the reason that many people with bad credit are hesitant to hire a credit repair company, is the bad name associated with the credit repair industry.

At the same time, it’s just not true that all credit repair companies are scammers. There are lots of reputable companies out there who will do their very best to restore your credit to “good health.” The question is how to identify the reputable companies and how to stay safe from the traps the fraudulent credit repair business agents lay for you.

Contrary to the common wisdom, identifying a fraudulent credit repair business is not that difficult. The first warning sign is if the company you are considering proposes to repair your credit “fast.”

Since your credit score is calculated on the basis of your financial history, it’s next to impossible to improve your credit score overnight. As soon as any credit repair business promises you the impossible, you should “dump” them, because they are definitely fraudulent!

Also, you need to be aware of additional “red flags” that will alert you to scammers. The fraudulent companies, in most every case, will require full payment upfront.

Under federal law fees may not be charged until services have been rendered. No matter how bad your credit report is, you need not pay the complete fees in advance.

A dishonest credit repair business will not think twice about recommending illegal means to improve bad credit. They will even advise that you use illegal means and tell you it’s all right to do so, because they know someone on the “inside” who can cover up for them and you.

Don’t ever fall prey to such false promises! Make sure you never encourage or accept any means to fix your credit unless it’s 100 percent legal. No matter how desperate you are, or how serious your problems, they’ll be made so much worse if you’re caught using illegal means to relieve them.

If illegal means are used to improve your credit, you are the person primarily responsible; therefore, you could end up being prosecuted if caught using illegal means. Taking this into account, it just isn’t worth risking it!

Yet another means to establish whether the credit repair business under consideration is “for real”, is to ask them to teach you about matters regarding credit repair. A trustworthy company will happily give you guidance and advice (and possibly some “hand holding”) in your quest to learn more about credit restoration.

A genuine agency will take the role of a facilitator, while a scam agency will be reluctant to provide information concerning the credit repair process.
